Especially not when you're switching to a serious actuator solution for the first time, like <a href="https://www.simracinghub.nl/go/vero-motion/" title="Vero Motion" class="pretty-link-keyword"rel="nofollow sponsored " target="_blank">Vero-Motion. On paper, it often seems simple: you install the system, connect everything, load a SimHub profile and drive off. But in practice, motion is much more sensitive than that. That's something I've also discovered. No matter how good the hardware is; if the profile isn't right, the experience quickly feels too busy, too exaggerated or conversely, too flat.

is exactly where the Vero-Motion Tuning Session made this difference for me. When purchasing a Vero-Motion system, you get a free 1-on-1 session met Marc, CEO and owner of Vero-Motion. During that session, he will fine-tune your system live to your setup, your simulator, your car and your preferences.

In my case, we were racing the Ferrari 296 GT3 on Road America in iRacing. I was doing laps, Marc was watching live and on the spot adjusted the settings. What started as a somewhat overwhelming introduction to motion, quickly turned into a session where everything fell into place. The car came to life more. The circuit gained more texture. And I sat behind the wheel with an ever-growing smile. That sounds enthusiastic, and it was. In this article, I will share my personal experience of this Vero-Motion Tuning Session. Let's go!

Summary

The Vero-Motion Tuning Session is a free 1-on-1 tuning session you receive when purchasing a Vero-Motion system. For me, this session made it particularly clear how much difference good tuning makes. Not by turning everything up louder, but by much more naturally aligning pitch, roll, heave, shifter feedback, haptics, and road textures with each other.

The free tuning session makes onboarding a Vero-Motion system much more accessible.

Marc fine-tunes the system live to your rig, simulator, car and driving style.

The default profile felt spectacular to me, but less natural than the tuned version.

Especially pitch, roll, shift feedback and road textures felt much more realistic after tuning.

This service gives extra confidence in your purchase and helps you get more out of your motion system.

Vero-Motion biedt de volgende motion systemen:

Vero-Motion builds motion systems in two clear categories: 3DOF and 6DOF. That choice is important, as not every sim racer is looking for the same thing. Some primarily want to make a compact, powerful step into motion in an existing aluminium cockpit. The other party, on the other hand, wants a more complete platform where even more directions of movement are simulated.

The 3DOF-systemer fall within the Champion series. These systems work with pitch, roll, and heave. In practice, this means you physically feel braking, accelerating, cornering forces, kerbs, changes in elevation, and compression. For many sim racers, this is already a massive step, as you no longer just drive via your steering wheel and pedals, but also begin to read the car through your body.

Within that Champion series, you have several variants, such as the Champion, Champion GT (the system I have) and Champion GTR. The difference primarily lies in stroke length, load capacity, and how extreme or heavy your setup can be. A compact rig requires something different than a heavy cockpit with multiple screens, a seat belt tensioner, haptics, and extra accessories.

Additionally, Vero-Motion also has 6DOF systems, such as the Legend series. Where 3DOF focuses on pitch, roll and heave, 6DOF adds extra freedom of movement. This brings you closer to a complete platform that not only tilts and moves vertically, but can also simulate extra directions. This makes these systems particularly interesting for those who want to take the step towards an even more complete motion experience or are building a professional training environment.

For this article, one point is particularly important: with both 3DOF and 6DOF systems, you get the free 1-to-1 tuning session. I find that a strong part of the overall Vero-Motion offering. Whether you opt for a Champion, <a href="https://www.simracinghub.nl/go/vero-motion/champion-gt/" title="Vero-Motion Champion GT" class="pretty-link-keyword"rel="nofollow sponsored " target="_blank">Champion GT, <a href="https://www.simracinghub.nl/go/vero-motion/champion-gtr/" title="Vero-Motion Champion GTR" class="pretty-link-keyword"rel="nofollow sponsored " target="_blank">Champion GTR or a 6DOF platform, you're not just left with hardware and a standard profile. You'll receive guidance to thoroughly understand the system and tune it appropriately for your setup.

This makes the choice for Vero-Motion more interesting than just a comparison of specifications. With motion, the calibration largely determines how good the hardware ultimately feels. Precisely for this reason, such a personal tuning session is not a small extra, but an important part of the overall experience.

Best Entry 3DOF

Vero-Motion Champion

The most accessible step towards Vero-Motion. It is an extra layer of feedback that works together with your steering wheel, pedals, haptics, audio, and visual information. Because of this, motion can add a great deal, but it can also make your experience more unsettled if the settings are not properly synchronised.

That was immediately recognisable to me. My Vero-Motion system already worked with a default profile. I could drive, the rig moved, and the first impression was absolutely impressive. Yet, it didn't feel like everything was quite right. Some movements were a bit overdone. Some effects hit harder than necessary. And because this was my first real motion system, I didn't know exactly which knobs to turn.

“I thought my motion system was already set up well with the default profile in SimHub. After a quarter of an hour in the session, I mainly realised how much I was still leaving on the table.”

That's also precisely the tricky thing about motion: you feel a lot, but you don't always know which effect is responsible for it. Is that hard jolt due to gear shift feedback? Is the pitch too aggressive? Is the roll too prominent? Should heave do more, or less? And when is an effect realistic and when does it become mainly spectacle?

These questions are important because motion can be impressive very quickly without actually becoming any better. Especially in the early days, you're tempted to leave many effects on, simply because it feels cool. But after a while, you notice that “feeling a lot” isn't the same as “feeling good”.

For me, the value of the Vero-Motion Tuning Session lies primarily in the combination of explanation and immediate feedback. You don't have to spend days searching for the right balance yourself, because Marc guides you through the profile step-by-step and immediately lets you experience what an adjustment does. That works much better than endlessly moving sliders yourself and, after three laps, no longer knowing which change actually made the difference. This makes the onboarding not only easier, but also much more understandable.

“Movement is overwhelming when you don't know what you're feeling. During the session, I started to truly understand which movement was giving which information. The difference wasn't just in better settings, but primarily in understanding why those settings work better.”

My test context: iRacing, Road America and the Ferrari 296 GT3

For this session, we raced on Road America in iRacing with the Ferrari 296 GT3, one of my favourite tracks and race cars. As it turned out afterwards, this was a strong combination, as Road America offers many different situations where motion can be well judged.

You have hard braking zones, fast corners, kerbs, changes in elevation, and sections where the car clearly shifts its load. This allowed us to specifically test different motion layers. Pitch was prominent during the braking zones. Roll could be felt in longer corners. Heave and road textures really came to life on kerbs, compressions, and subtle imperfections in the road surface.

The Ferrari 296 GT3 is therefore a logical choice. A GT3 car provides a relatively large amount of information through braking, weight transfer and traction. You quickly feel when you go over a kerb too hard, when the car becomes unsettled under acceleration out of a corner, and when you release the brakes too aggressively. This makes such a car suitable for evaluating motion effects, because you're not just looking at the large movements, but specifically at the transition moments.

I was doing the laps myself, while Marc watched live and adjusted settings. That's important, because motion tuning doesn't work well as an abstract software exercise. You have to drive, feel, give feedback and try again. You often only notice the difference between two settings when you tackle the same braking zone or the same corner again.

This happened very concretely here. Sometimes we'd drive a few corners and I'd immediately know that a setting felt better. Sometimes a change felt impressive at first, but after a few corners it was actually too much. That direct comparison made the session educational, because not only did the end result improve, but my understanding of the system also grew.

From default profile to a more realistic motion profile

The biggest difference for me between the default profile and the tuned profile wasn't in “more” motion, but in better motion. In the default profile, pitch and roll initially felt a bit more extreme. When braking, the platform clearly dipped forward, and in corners, the lateral tilt sometimes felt emphatically present. This immediately gave a wow effect, but it also felt as if the system primarily wanted to showcase everything it could do.

That's not necessarily a bad thing for a first encounter. In fact, it immediately shows that there's a lot of potential in the hardware. I just noticed fairly quickly that spectacular isn't the same as believable. If roll is too emphasized, the cockpit itself feels too present. If pitch does too much, a braking zone becomes impressive, but not automatically easier to read.

After the tuning, it felt different. Still physical. Still impressive. But much more natural. Roll supported the cornering, without it feeling like the entire cockpit was tilting excessively. Pitch gave the braking phase more weight, without every braking zone turning into a roller-coaster moment. This made the car feel calmer and more believable. Not less intense, but better dosed.

For the tuning

The roll and pitch felt spectacular, but at times too pronounced.

The gear change hit hard, almost like a machine gun.

Road textures were present, but not yet truly refined.

The overall experience was impressive, but at times a bit crowded.

After the tuning

The roll and pitch felt more natural and better linked to what the car was doing.

Shift feedback became subtler, more mechanical and more believable.

The road textures came through more accurately, especially after the firmware update for the four actuators.

The system offered more peace, confidence and depth.

This difference is important, because with motion, spectacular doesn't automatically mean realistic. A system can move a lot and still provide little useful information. Conversely, a more subtle adjustment can provide more confidence, because the movements better match what the car is doing.

“The tuned version didn't feel any less impressive. It felt less over the top, and therefore much more credible and thus realistic.”

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped class="wp-block-heading">Braking with more substance and less showboating

Pitch is the fore and aft tilt of the platform. In practice, you mainly feel pitch during braking and acceleration. When braking hard, the car pitches forward onto its nose, and when accelerating, the weight shifts backwards. In my default profile, pitch was clearly present. This immediately added to the sense of immersion, but it didn't feel entirely natural yet. The movement was sometimes a bit too pronounced, as if the system wanted to overemphasise the braking action.

During the tuning, Marc brought things back to a much more usable balance. Braking remained physical, but the movement felt more in line with what I expected from the car. The Ferrari 296 GT3 didn't feel more dramatic, but rather more predictable.

“Only when the pitch was right did the brakes feel like more than just pedal pressure. It felt like mass coming forward.”

You feel more weight coming forward, without your body being primarily occupied with the movement of the platform. That not only made braking more impressive, but also smoother. For me, there was a lot of value in that. I don't want motion to be a show effect. I want it to deepen my driving experience. Good pitching helps with that, because it gives the braking phase more body. You feel better when the car is loading, when you start brake release, and when the car is ready to turn.

The beauty of it is that after the tuning, the pitch demanded less attention but gained more meaning. That sounds contradictory, but that's how it felt. Before the tuning, I mainly noticed *that* the platform was moving. After the tuning, I better noticed *why* it was moving. That's precisely the difference between effect and information.

Roll: cornering load without excessive lean

Roll is the sideways tilt of the platform. This effect helps to make lateral load and body movement perceptible. In plain English: you can better feel the car leaning onto its outside tyres. In the default profile, I sometimes found the roll a bit extreme. That's fun for the first impression, but not necessarily what you want during longer stints. If roll becomes too dominant, the cockpit itself feels too prominent. Then you pay less attention to the car and more to the system.

Marc also brought this effect back to a more natural level. The movement didn't disappear, but it was better integrated. In longer corners, I still felt the car building up load, but the effect commanded less attention.

This made the longer corners particularly pleasant. You can feel the car coming under load, but it doesn't become an artificial tilting moment. The rig helps you understand what the car is doing, without feeling like you're in a simulator that's mainly trying to demonstrate its range of motion.

In my opinion, that's precisely what good motion tuning is all about. You don't want to be constantly thinking: there's roll, there's pitch, there's heave. You want everything to come together to form a believable driving experience. Good roll doesn't shout, it supports. Roll shouldn't tell me that my rig can tilt.

“Roll needs to make me feel that the car is building up speed. That's what I want and need to feel, and thanks to this tuning session, that effect has come into its own much better.”

Heave: the car and the circuit come more to life

Heave is the vertical movement of the platform. You use this effect to make differences in height, compressions, kerbs, and vertical movements of the car noticeable. Before the session, heave already felt present, but a bit generic. Road America came alive more than without motion, but some details were not yet truly refined. This changed during tuning. The combination of heave, road textures, and firmware updates made a big difference.

During the session, we also performed a firmware update on the four actuators. Afterwards, it was immediately noticeable that road textures became much more accurately perceptible. You don't just feel *that* something is happening under the car, but much better *what* is happening. Small bumps, subtle texture in the road surface, and the way the car goes over unevenness became more apparent.

I was seriously impressed by that, especially since it made Road America feel less flat and much more tangible. Not only did the kerbs gain more significance, but the road surface itself did too. You're no longer just driving over a virtual track; you feel like the circuit has its own distinct surface.

“After the firmware update, I suddenly felt more of the road surface. Not just big movements anymore, but small bumps and textures that had disappeared before. The circuit became less flat. As if Road America suddenly had a surface rather than just a layout. Phenomenal!”

For me, that's perhaps one of the most underestimated aspects of motion. Everyone immediately thinks of big movements: braking, accelerating, rolling, kerbs. But it's precisely the small details that make the system convincing. The subtle unrest on the straight. A slight compression. A kerb that doesn't just vibrate, but seems to run vertically through the car. Those are the moments when a circuit feels less digital.

This also requires the heave to be well-dosed. Too much vertical movement makes the car feel busy. Too little and you miss that physical contact with the road surface. During the session, that difference became much clearer. I began to better understand why some details need to come via haptics and others via the actuators.

Shift feedback: from machine gun to mechanical click

One of the most recognisable examples during the session was the upshift and downshift. In the default profile, it initially felt almost like a machine gun. Every shifting action gave a hard jolt through the rig, as if the system wanted to prove its existence with every gear change.

That's fun for ten seconds, but I didn't find it realistic. Especially in a GT3 car, you want to feel the mechanics in the car, but you don't want every gear change to feel like a hard jolt through your entire body. If the feedback at every shift is too aggressive, the effect will overpower itself. Then you feel something, but it doesn't add much nuance.

Marc adjusted this effect much more balanced during the session. Shifting remained noticeable, but became subtler, more mechanical and better integrated into the overall driving experience. As a result, it gained more value. Not because it was louder, but because it became more believable.

“Before the tuning, shifting gears felt like someone was tapping the rig with a hammer. This effect lasted much too long, making it feel impressive but more unrealistic. After the tuning, it felt more like a mechanical reaction from the car.”

This was a good example for me of what tuning does. You don't simply remove effects. You bring them back to a level where they contribute rather than distract. The gear change became less of a loose clunk and more a part of the car. You still feel that something is happening, but it fits better into the overall picture. That's precisely the kind of detail you might only discover yourself after a lot of trial and error. During the session, it became clear in a few minutes.

Haptics and Details: When Extra Feedback Helps and When It Becomes Noise

Besides pitch, roll and heave, haptic effects were also discussed. Think of suspension feedback, rumble strips, engine vibration, gear change, ABS trigger and other small signals that you can feel via the system.

This is an area where you'll quickly want too much. Especially if you've just got a motion system. Everything can be turned on, everything can go louder, and everything initially seems fun. But more feedback doesn't automatically mean better feedback.

During tuning, it became clear which effects really add something and which mainly cause noise. Engine vibration can add atmosphere, but if it's too dominant, it masks subtler signals. Gear change can give a nice mechanical click, but too loud it becomes irritating. Kerbs can be distinct, but shouldn't feel like you're driving over a concrete edge every lap.

“The biggest gain wasn't in adding more effects, but in reducing them until only the useful information remained.”

Marc brought those layers back into balance. This made the system calmer. And precisely because of that, the important signals stood out better. I found that perhaps one of the most valuable lessons from the whole session. Not everything you can feel needs to be felt. Sometimes a profile becomes better by softening things. Sometimes it becomes more realistic by removing or de-emphasising effects. You create space for the signals that truly matter.

This also ties in with how I view sim racing hardware. Good hardware doesn't need to constantly demand attention. A good direct drive wheelbase doesn't feel good because it's always pulling hard, but because it combines detail, composure, and timing. The same actually applies to motion.

What I learned during the session about tuning

What I understand better after this session, above all, is that motion tuning isn't about one ideal setting. It's a series of choices. You choose what information is important, how emphatically you want to feel that information, and through which channel that information enters best. You want some signals through your steering wheel. Others through your pedals. Some details come through better via haptics. And certain large movements belong, quite rightly, via the actuators. If everything tries to give the same information at the same time, it becomes crowded. If each layer gets its own function, it becomes richer.

That's what Marc did well during the session. He brought structure to something that was still quite new to me. Not just by changing settings, but especially by making me feel *why* a change worked. As a result, after the session, I wasn't left with a profile that happened to be set well, but with a better understanding to fine-tune it myself. And that's important. Because motion isn't something you set once and then never touch again. Other cars, other circuits and other personal preferences can call for small adjustments. The difference is that after this session, I know much better where to start.

Why this session gives confidence in Vero-Motion

The tuning session is not only useful. It also gives you confidence in the purchase. That might sound commercial, but I mean it very practically. A motion system is a significant investment. If you're mostly left with questions after installation, such a purchase can quickly feel uncertain. Is it set up correctly? Am I getting the most out of it? Should it feel like this? Is this normal? Have I made the right choice?

During the session, those questions largely disappeared, not because Marc simply said everything was fine, but because he made you feel why certain settings worked better. You get explanations, context, and direct practical experience. As a result, you'll understand your system better and gain the confidence to work on it more effectively yourself afterwards.

That's exactly what happened to me. After the session, I actively continued fine-tuning my profile and settings. No longer haphazardly, but with a much greater sense of cause and effect. Small adjustments sometimes have big consequences, but now I understand better what to look at. Everything literally clicks together better now.

For me, that also provided confirmation. Not just that the system is good, but that I had made the right choice. You shouldn't underestimate that feeling with this kind of hardware. You invest a lot of money, time, and attention in your setup. Then you don't want to be left in doubt about whether you're using the system correctly. This session removed that doubt to a large extent.

Why this is a unique service

Many manufacturers supply hardware, software, and profiles. That's fine, but with motion, you're still leaving a lot to the user. And precisely with motion, that's difficult because the experience is so dependent on personal preference, rig build, simulator, car, and driving style. Vero-Motion tackles that differently by offering this 1-on-1 tuning session for free with the purchase of a system. I think that's really strong. Not because it sounds nice on a product page, but because it adds value in practice.

You don't buy a box of parts and a manual and have to figure it out yourself. You get help to understand the system and make it feel right. This makes the first few weeks with motion much more accessible and reduces the chance of you riding with a poorly adjusted system.

“Vero-Motion isn't just selling motion hardware here. They help you understand Why you've bought the hardware and it teaches you to understand what all the settings do. Of course, you can try it yourself, but getting lessons from a professional is extremely valuable.”

For me, this is a serious argument for choosing Vero-Motion. Not separate from the hardware, but as part of the total package. It also shows something about how Vero-Motion views its customers. They don't assume that once it's installed, you have to figure everything out yourself. They understand that motion only truly convinces when the system works well within your setup. This is a different approach than just supplying hardware and only offering support when something goes wrong. This service is much closer to actual practice. Your system works, but then the real question begins: does it also feel right? This is precisely where the tuning session helps.

Watch the Vero-Motion tuning session

The tuning session is particularly valuable when you're making the switch to motion for the first time. That's precisely when the learning curve is steepest. You know the system can do a lot, but you don't yet know what distinguishes a good profile from a busy one.

The session is also interesting for advanced sim racers. Especially if you already pay a lot of attention to force feedback, pedal feel, haptics and rig setup. Motion adds an extra layer to this and requires choices. What do you want to feel via the steering wheel? What via the rig? What via haptics? And which effects should have less emphasis?

The session helps to make those choices faster and better. If you're someone who primarily seeks maximum movement, Marc will likely make you realise that more isn't always better. And that's a good thing. A good motion setup shouldn't just impress, but should logically feel right.

For me, this is precisely the target audience that Vero-Motion serves well with this: sim racers who want to invest seriously in motion, but don't just want to receive a box of hardware. You want a system that works, but also a starting point that's right. This makes a big difference, especially with a first motion setup.

Is this service a reason to choose Vero-Motion?

Yes, for me it did. Not because a tuning session can fix bad hardware. It doesn't work like that. The foundation needs to be right. But with motion, calibration largely determines how well you experience the hardware. If a manufacturer helps you personally with that, it increases the value of the overall product. For me, this session gave me more confidence in my choice for Vero-Motion. I understood the system better, felt more clearly what the hardware could do, and got a much stronger starting point to fine-tune myself. And that's precisely what you want with a system in this price range.

What I started doing differently after the session

After the session, I didn't stop tweaking. On the contrary. Precisely because I understood the system better, I felt more like fine-tuning it further. That's perhaps the most beautiful effect of good guidance. You don't become dependent on someone who sets everything up for you. You gain enough understanding to continue with more confidence yourself. I now know better which effects to adjust when something feels too busy. I understand better why small changes can have big consequences. And I recognise more quickly when an effect is impressive but actually adds little.

This makes the whole process more enjoyable. You're no longer randomly adjusting sliders. You're building a profile that fits your riding style step by step. And yes, motion remains overwhelming. Even after such a session. There are many settings, many layers, and many personal preferences. But it now feels less like a wall of options and more like a toolkit I can handle better.

Conclusion: extremely valuable and highly recommended

The Vero-Motion Tuning Session was extremely valuable for me. Not only because my profile was better afterwards, but especially because I now understand what I'm feeling and why certain settings work. That makes a big difference. Before the session, I was driving with a default profile that was impressive, but sometimes a bit over the top. Roll and pitch felt more extreme than necessary, gear shift feedback was harsh, and some details were actually lost in the noise.

After the tuning, the system felt much more natural, realistic, and better integrated. The firmware update for the four actuators also made the road textures much more palpable, bringing the circuit to life even more.

It was precisely because of Marc's explanation that I then actively continued fine-tuning my own profile. Everything now literally fits together better. Small adjustments often have big consequences, but that's also what makes it fun. You don't just move sliders; you try to build a credible racing experience. And that's precisely where Vero-Motion excels with this service. They make onboarding easier, give you confidence in your purchase, and help you get the most out of your motion system.

If you would Considering the Vero-Motion system, and I would seriously consider this free 1-on-1 tuning session in your decision. For me, it's not a small bonus, but an important and valuable part of the overall experience that will allow you to get even more enjoyment and value from your motion system. An absolute must-have!

Choose Vero-Motion with extra confidence

Exclusive Bonus

Including a 1-on-1 tuning session + free SimRacingHub Gloves

The Vero-Motion Tuning Session is one of the strongest reasons for me to choose Vero-Motion. During this session, Marc from Vero-Motion will help you fine-tune your motion profile live to your setup, simulator, car, and preferences.

Motion tracking is important because it allows us to analyse and improve the way objects move through space. This can be useful in a variety of fields, such as sports, robotics, and animation. For example, in sports, motion tracking can be used to analyse an athlete's technique and identify areas where they can improve. In robotics, motion tracking can be used to help robots learn to navigate and interact with their environment. And in animation, motion tracking can be used to create more realistic and lifelike movements for characters.

Motion tuning determines how natural and usable a motion system feels. A default profile can be impressive, but it doesn't always feel realistic. By finely tuning pitch, roll, heave, haptics, and shifter feedback, the experience often becomes smoother, more believable, and more informative.

Is the default profile of Vero-Motion good enough?

The default profile is a useful starting point, but in my experience, you don't automatically get the most out of it. For me, it initially felt a bit more extreme in roll, pitch, and shift feedback. After tuning, the profile felt much more natural and better balanced.

What changed after the actuator firmware update?

During my session, we also performed a firmware update on the four actuators. Subsequently, road textures were more clearly perceptible. Small bumps, subtle unevenness, and road surface texture came through more accurately, making the circuit feel more alive.

Does motion make sim racing more realistic?

Yes, provided it's well-tuned. Motion adds physical depth to the experience. You feel braking, kerbs, roll, heave, and road textures not only through the wheel or audio but also through your body. Poorly tuned motion can feel pressurising; well-tuned motion makes the car and the circuit more believable.

Is the Vero-Motion Tuning Session a reason to choose Vero-Motion?

For me, yes. The free tuning session makes the onboarding easier and gives more confidence in your purchase. You don't just get motion hardware, but also personal guidance to understand and adjust the system properly.

No secrets here - just honest lap times AND honest links.
