When you are rallying or drifting, you want full control. The new Heusinkveld Sim Handbrake is a highly customisable, pressure-sensitive USB handbrake that uses load cell technology. With a wide range of options, you can set your desired mechanical feel and shape the output curve to your liking with Heusinkveld SmartControl.
Strong and Durable Design
This strong, rigid and durable Heusinkveld Sim Handbrake is designed for motorsport simulators and can be used in the following driving simulator environments:
- For professional driving training.
- For home use (e.g. eSports simulators, simracing enthusiasts).
- In commercial applications (e.g. rental simulators).
Engineering
The design was done with CAD and FEA, with all structural components manufactured from CNC precision laser cut steel with sandblasting or fine textured powder coating.
The new Sim Handbrake uses custom-made elastomer springs from Heusinkveld, providing a firm and adaptable progressive feel with up to 22 kg of force at the lever (120 kg load cell). The main load on the brake is simulated by compressing Heusinkveld's unique elastomers, providing an unrivalled progressive braking experience. Three elastomers are included to set a soft, medium or firm handbrake feel.
Adjustable suspension systems
A 2-phase spring system provides resistance when pulling the lever. An initial metal coil spring simulates the clearance between the brake pads and the disc and/or slack on the handbrake cable. The travel and preload on this spring are adjustable and you can also remove this coil spring if required.
Montageoptions
There are several options for mounting the Sim Handbrake to your simulator. The lever can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. For each position, there is a precise adjustment of up to 26 degrees to set the exact position of the lever.
If you use the included optional adapter plate (which allows easy montage on aluminium profiles), you have up to 22.5 degrees of freedom of movement to adjust the yaw of the handbrake.
Integrated electronics
The handbrake electronics are integrated into the handbrake base. The system as a whole has passed EMC compliance tests, ensuring a stable output signal.
Powered by Heusinkveld SmartControl Software
The Sim Handbrake comes with a powerful configuration tool that lets you set your handbrake: SmartControl. SmartControl allows you to instantly map (non-linear) output curves, dead zones and handbrake force. These adjustments can be made without recalibrating the handbrake (including in iRacing).
A key feature of SmartControl is the ability to set a custom signal output map. Traditionally, the output of racing simulator handbrakes had a one-to-one sensitivity to the handbrake input. SmartControl allows you to map non-linear output curves with 5 zones (six input parameters). This can be useful if you want your handbrake to be very aggressive (e.g. for drifting or rallies on tarmac). Alternatively, you can make the initial output less sensitive if you expect the wheels to lock easily (e.g. on unpaved surfaces). All settings can be saved in profiles, which can be reloaded with a few mouse clicks.
More information
This product is compatible with the PC/Windows platform. It cannot be used on consoles such as Xbox or Playstation. The handbrake is pre-calibrated (plug-and-play). If you want to use SmartControl to recalibrate the handbrake or adjust certain settings, you need to run Windows 10.
