Pro Switch Panel

Who is Precision Sim Engineering?

Precision Sim Engineering is a UK manufacturer of high-end sim racing hardware and has now established a solid reputation as a leading manufacturer of premium sim racing hardware. Known for their high-quality steering wheels, they have set the bar high in terms of quality and innovation. Their products are often seen as the gold standard for both amateur and professional sim racers.

With the introduction of the Pro Switch Panel, they show that their expertise extends beyond steering wheels. The company focuses on providing accessories that not only perform at a high level, but also meet the needs of users.

Their ongoing collaboration with software developers such as SimHub demonstrates their commitment to integration and ease of use. These strategic decisions have positioned Precision Sim Engineering as a pioneer, allowing them not only to follow current trends, but also to actively contribute to the future of sim racing. Their products are a reflection of their commitment to precision and quality.

Price of the Pro Switch Panel

If you buy the Pro Switch Panel directly from Precision Sim Engineering, you will pay £249 for it. On top of that, if required, comes the optional RAM mount for an extra £35. However, that amount won't get you there yet, especially if you live in the EU. Then on top of that there are shipping costs and any customs, import and VAT charges.

Together, these extra costs can push the total price to around €500. And fair's fair, that's a lot of money! Do you live in Europe? Then buy it, for example at simracewebshop for €419.95 including the RAM mount. So a 'bargain' the Pro Switch Panel is certainly not, although this price does reflect the premium build quality and advanced functionalities you should expect from a premium accessory. It is an accessory that is fantastic on all counts!

Unboxing the Pro Switch Panel

Unboxing the Pro Switch Panel is a treat in itself. You notice that every detail has been thought of. The box in which the panel arrives is beautifully designed and carefully packed, which immediately conveys a sense of luxury and quality. As soon as I opened the box, it felt like a treat to discover every component. The Pro Switch Panel was well protected with foam rubber to prevent any damage during transport. Everything had its own place, which made for an organised and uncluttered presentation. A feast for the eyes!

What Do You Find In The Box?

Upon unpacking, I found all the necessary cables and montagematerials in addition to the panel itself. The included manual was a handy bonus, quickly guiding me through the basic settings and how to use the SimHub software. It ensured that I could get up and running quickly without any hassle!

In summary, you will receive the following:

  • Pro Switch Panel (PSP)

Installation and Montageoptions

Well, now that we have enjoyed unpacking the PSP, it is time to install and mount the Pro Switch Panel on my simulator. Installing the Pro Switch Panel (PSP) is a remarkably simple and effortless experience and is done in no time.

Thanks to compatibility with both RAM and VESA-montage systems, you can choose the solution that best suits your setup. The VESA-montage, with a 75mm x 75mm stand, allows the panel to be quickly and securely attached to existing structures.

For those who want more flexibility, the optional RAM mount offers almost unlimited adaptability thanks to its ball-and-socket connections. This ensures that the Pro Switch Panel can be placed in any position. This works super easily and pleasantly. I think it is strong that Precision Sim Engineering chose this existing system instead of reinventing the wheel itself. This is my first experience with this system and I can conclude nothing but that I am hugely positive about the level of flexibility this RAM mount offers.

Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel

Mounting the PSP is smooth with the included mounting hardware. Whether you choose the VESA option or the RAM mount, both systems are designed to easily integrate the panel into your setup. This allows you to get started quickly!

In short, Precision Sim Engineering has clearly thought through the installation and montage options. The combination of simplicity, stability and flexibility ensures that you can quickly enjoy this beautiful panel, without spending hours puzzling over it. A big plus!

Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel

The Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel has a number of interesting and innovative features. We now cover the most important ones!

Construction quality

The build quality of the Pro Switch Panel is one of the most important aspects contributing to its reputation as a premium accessory. And there is absolutely nothing negative to say about the build quality. It can be called fantastic in every respect. There is attention to detail and it shows in everything. From packaging to finishing: precision in every detail.

The panel is made of a combination of high-quality materials such as aluminium and sturdy plastic. This choice not only ensures a robust construction, but also a premium feel that contributes to the device's durability.

Advanced RGB Engine

The Pro Switch Panel features 20 high-quality, RGB-lit switches that are easy and intuitive to operate. The buttons are tremendously bright and emit beautiful rich colours. It is a joy to look at! With the included ChromaWorx software you easily and quickly create dynamic colour profiles, allowing you to adjust the panel's lighting to your personal preference or race conditions. Handy! These customisation options not only help with navigation, but also enhance the racing experience by providing visual cues and feedback.

The software works fine, but otherwise adds little new and adds redundancy, given that most sim racers will - probably - use SimHub, where you can also easily set profiles. Precision Sim Engineering provides a number of presets that you can here can download, another and better alternative are the Daniel Newman Racing led profiles which you can download for a fee. As far as I am concerned, without a doubt, a better alternative!

Pro Switch Panel

Compact and Motorsport Inspired Design

The Pro Switch Panel stands out for its compact and motorsport-inspired design, making it a stylish addition to any setup. Its slim profile makes it easy to integrate into existing setups without taking up too much space.

Despite its compact size, the panel offers a robust build quality that can withstand heavy use. Something I appreciate immensely! The design is infused with motorsport influences, providing a professional look that adds to the realistic racing experience. This product allows me to recreate an LMP2 or Hypercar cockpit as realistically as possible in my setup!

The high-quality materials used in its construction ensure not only durability, but also an aesthetically pleasing finish. This combination of functional and attractive design ensures that the Pro Switch Panel not only performs at a high level, but also looks fantastically good while doing so. This makes it an ideal choice for racers who want to combine both performance and style in their sim racing experience. And be honest, doesn't it look stunning?

Ergonomic design

Another notable feature of the Pro Switch Panel is the ergonomic design of the housing, which is specially designed for ease of use while driving. Because the housing is raised around the buttons (button guard), you are assured not to push the wrong button easily. Moreover, this layout guarantees quick and easy access to all switches and joysticks, which is especially crucial during intense races. This design minimises unnecessary distractions and helps maintain concentration on the track.

Multifunctional Joysticks and Seamless Connectivity

The two 7-way multi-function joysticks simplify navigation through complex race settings and menus. These joysticks are designed for precision and sensitivity, ensuring smooth adjustments without the need to pause the game. The joysticks also feel great and are a hugely useful addition.

The simple USB connection ensures effortless installation and integration into your existing setup, saving time and improving the user experience. There is little to note in this area as well. The included USB cable is sufficiently long, allowing you to easily tuck it away in your setup and not be short of length. Fine!

pro switch panel

So are there any drawbacks? Yes definitely. One small downside I find is the position of the USB-B port on the back. Because in my setup I mounted the PSP horizontally, I don't really like the position of the USB port on the left side (i.e. on the top when placed vertically) and would have preferred it somewhere else. Is it very distracting? No, it certainly isn't. In all honesty, I think in most situations this is not a problem.

Full integration with SimHub Software

Seamless integration with SimHub software makes the Pro Switch Panel a powerful tool for sim racers looking for advanced telemetry intelligence. The panel can be set up to display real-time alerts, such as spotter flags, fuel alerts and traction control indicators, which improve your racing insight and decision-making.

Detailed Adjustments with Polycarbonate Labels

With as many as 210 high-quality polycarbonate labels, the Pro Switch Panel offers endless possibilities to fully customise the panel. Personalising the panel is an incredibly fun, but also time-consuming task. After all, you want to think carefully about which functions you put where, so that everything is perfectly within reach while racing.

What I particularly appreciate is that Precision Sim Engineering includes duplicate labels. This means you always have the flexibility to adjust your layout later or replace labels if you change your setup. This gives peace of mind; you are not stuck with one layout.

Fair is fair: installing the labels takes some patience, but once they are in place, the panel not only looks sleek, but also feels all yours. And the great thing is: after that, you'll probably never have to do anything to it. The quality of the labels can be called good.

This attention to detail and customisability makes the Pro Switch Panel truly unique. It feels like a premium upgrade that not only provides better control and interaction, but also that extra immersion while racing. It is an investment that will take your sim experience to the next level and give your rig that little bit more personality.

Why choose the Pro Switch Panel?

You choose the Pro Switch Panel because of the unparalleled precision and customisation options it offers. With 20 RGB-lit switches and two multi-function joysticks, you can fully customise your racing experience. Seamless integration with SimHub software allows important race information to be displayed directly on the panel, which can significantly reduce reaction times during critical moments.

In addition, the included ChromaWorx software allows you to customise the colours of the switches, allowing you to visually match your setup to your personal style. The panel's durable construction guarantees a long lifespan, even with intensive use. These features make the Pro Switch Panel an absolute favourite among sim racing accessories if you are looking for reliability and flexibility in your setup. Are you looking for a product that delivers on all these promises? Then the Pro Switch Panel is a logical and very good choice for your setup.

Personal Experience

During my time with the Pro Switch Panel, I have found that it brings a huge improvement to my sim racing experience. My setup now looks even nicer thanks to the Pro Switch Panel. The customisable RGB lighting makes it easy to quickly identify important buttons, which is especially useful during stressful racing situations. The panel feels solid and the buttons offer satisfying tactile feedback, boosting confidence in the controls.

With more than 210 high-quality stickers included, you have more than enough options to configure the PSP to your liking. It always gives me great satisfaction to configure a product according to my own wishes and preferences. As a result, my setup not only looks great, but also feels like a professional cockpit. The included RAM mount offers enormous flexibility in montage and integration possibilities.

Compared to other button boxes I have used before, the Pro Switch Panel is not only more practical and beautiful, but also much more intuitive and better built. It offers a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, and it has significantly improved the look of my setup!

Integration with SimHub was surprisingly smooth, although it took some time to discover all the possibilities. The multi-function joysticks are a great asset, especially when navigating complex menus without interrupting the racing. Fantastic!

Are you an avid sim racer looking for extra buttons and functionalities? Then the Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel is really for you. In my experience, this button box is an excellent investment that offers both quality and functionality. It is an investment that pays for itself in quality, functionality and pure racing pleasure. For me, it has become an indispensable part of my setup.

Comparison with Other Sim Racing Button Boxes

Where traditional button boxes often offer simple buttons, the Pro Switch Panel offers more with features such as multi-function joysticks and integration with SimHub, making access to advanced telemetry easy. This combination of performance and finish justifies the higher price and makes it the ideal choice for serious sim racers looking to make the most of their setup.

The Pro Switch Panel stands out for its unrivalled customisability with RGB-lit switches and solid, premium build quality. This makes it not only visually appealing, but also highly functional for intense racing sessions.

When comparing the Pro Switch Panel with other sim racing button boxes, such as the Box One Racing X1 Button Box or the Stream Deck, then some distinct advantages stand out.

Difference Pro Switch Panel & X1 Button Box

The Box One Racing X1 Button Box and the Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel both target sim racers, but serve different needs. The X1 Button Box is an excellent choice for sim racers looking for an affordable and practical solution, with solid (3D printed) build quality and functional buttons for a wide range of racing settings.

However, the Pro Switch Panel goes a step further and excels in premium finish, durability and ergonomics, with high-quality materials, button guards and perfectly placed switches and rotaries for a more realistic and professional racing experience. Where the X1 focuses on accessibility and functionality aimed at the more novice sim racer, the Pro Switch Panel offers an unparalleled level of precision and luxury, ideal for the discerning sim racer.

Difference Pro Switch Panel & Stream Deck

Fair enough; it is comparing apples with oranges. Since the purpose and target audience of the two products is completely different. Still, a Stream Deck is a versatile alternative to a PSP. It is therefore good to briefly mention the differences.

The main difference between the Precision Sim Engineering Pro Switch Panel and a Stream Deck is in their design and purpose. Developed specifically for sim racing, the Pro Switch Panel excels in build quality and functionality, with robust physical knobs, switches and rotaries that seamlessly match racing functions such as brake balance and fuel management. This makes it a perfect choice for hardcore sim racers who want a realistic cockpit experience.

In contrast, a Stream Deck is more versatile and software customisable, ideal for those who need macros and shortcuts for other applications in addition to sim racing. Where the Pro Switch Panel offers pure focus and durability, the Stream Deck delivers flexibility, but lacks the physical and premium feel of a true racing panel.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Premium design
  • Extended delivery
  • Presentation box
  • Flexibility of RAM-Mount

Cons

  • The position of the USB connection

Conclusion

Of course, whether the Pro Switch Panel is a good investment depends on your needs and priorities. All in all, Precision Sim Engineering has delivered an absolutely top-quality product with the Pro Switch Panel. With a score of 4.8 the PSP is outstanding on every detail.

The finish, presentation, scope of delivery and design are of an exceptionally high standard. But of course, this does come with a hefty price tag. As such, the PSP is aimed more at the more advanced and professional sim racer.

For those looking for a high level of customisability and precision, the Pro Switch Panel offers absolute value. The ability to fully customise the RGB lighting and functions of the buttons greatly enhances the enjoyment of this accessory! The integration with SimHub offers almost unlimited configuration possibilities and options to set up your Pro Switch Panel to your own preference. Although SimHub can be a bit confusing and cumbersome at times, Daniel Newman's profiles will have you at your disposal in no time.

Its durable construction ensures that the panel can withstand heavy use, making it a reliable choice for the long term. While there are certainly cheaper alternatives, the Pro Switch Panel justifies its price and you get a huge amount in return in terms of quality and functionality. In all honesty, there are really no alternatives or competing products that can match the quality and workmanship of this product. The PSP excels on all fronts.

In short, the Pro Switch Panel is a fantastic addition if you are willing to invest in quality as well as design. For those willing to invest in top quality and a future-proof setup, this panel is simply a must-have!
