Compatibility Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals
Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or newer. Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals are designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of simulation games, including all popular titles such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa and rFactor.
Heusinkveld products are unfortunately incompatible with Linux or consoles such as Xbox or Playstation. This is unfortunate, but understandable since you won't be able to use the SmartControl software then. The pedals are pre-calibrated and ready to use (plug-and-play). If you want to use SmartControl to recalibrate or adjust certain pedal settings, you need to be running Windows 10 or a newer version.
Installation of the Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals
Installing Heusinkveld Sprint pedals is a simple process that takes just a few minutes. Follow this step-by-step guide for a hassle-free installation of your Heusinkveld Sprint pedals or check out Heusinkveld's installation video below.
Materials needed:
- Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals
- Supplied mon1TP3Materials
- A suitable racing simulator setup
Step 1: Mount the brake pedal on the base plate
Start by mounting the brake pedal on the base plate. Take the brake pedal and place it firmly on the designated opening on the base plate. Use the montagematerials provided, mostly screws, to securely attach the brake pedal to the base. Make sure the pedal is firmly fixed to ensure stability during use.
Step 2: Attach the accelerator and clutch pedal
Next, attach the accelerator pedal and clutch pedal in the same way as the brake pedal. Position each pedal correctly on the base plate and use the screws provided to secure them firmly. After attaching all the pedals, check that they are properly aligned and that there is enough space between each pedal for comfortable use.
Step 3: Connect the pedals to the race simulator setup
Now that you have firmly attached the pedals to the base plate, it's time to connect and mount them to your racing simulator. Depending on the type of racing simulator you use, the connections may vary. Follow the instructions to connect the pedals correctly. Make sure all cables are securely connected and that there are no loose connections.
In most cases, you will need to connect pedals to supplied the mounting plate of your simulator. Mounting the pedals on my Sim Lab P1-X chassis unfortunately did not go without a hitch. Indeed, this proved impossible without the Pedal Slider Baseplate by Sim Lab to be purchased. However, this extra required purchase is worth it, as it makes installing the pedals on your Sim Lab P1 rig smooth and sturdy.
Step 4: Calibrate the pedals
Before you start racing, it is essential to calibrate the pedals for an accurate and optimal racing experience. You do this with the SmartControl software. You will find more information on that later in this article. Most racing simulators have a calibration option that allows you to set the pedals to your personal preferences.
Follow your racing simulator's calibration instructions to set the brake, accelerator and clutch pedals to your liking. Make sure all pedals respond smoothly and accurately before you start racing.
Step 5: Test your new Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals
Now that you have completed the installation and calibration, it's time to test your new Heusinkveld Sprint pedals! Start your racing simulator and take to the track to experience how these high-quality pedals take your driving experience to the next level.
Heusinkveld SmartControl
The Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals come with a powerful configuration tool that allows you to set up your pedals in ways not possible before: Heusinkveld SmartControl. Working together with brand-new electronics, SmartControl makes it possible to instantly adjust the allocation of (non-linear) pedal output curves, pedal death zones and brake pedal force.
The software provides a user-friendly interface that allows users to adjust the sensitivity, resistance and other parameters of their racing equipment according to their personal preferences and simulation needs. Your Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals are already pre-calibrated during assembly and can be used as a plug-and-play device. All adjustments in Smart Control can be made without having to recalibrate the pedals.
Profiles
SmartControl supports an unlimited number of profiles. Saving and loading a profile is done with just a few mouse clicks. These adjustments can be made without recalibrating the pedals. All settings can be stored in profiles, which can be reloaded with just a few mouse clicks.
This allows you to easily switch between different configurations for different racing games and seamlessly switch to the right settings depending on the type of race car and track they use. Whether you play iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione or another popular simulation game plays, you can be sure this system will integrate seamlessly into your setup.
Assigning pedal output curves
A key feature of SmartControl is the ability to set custom signal output maps per pedal. Traditionally, race simulator pedal output had a one-to-one sensitivity to the pedal input. With SmartControl, you can assign non-linear output curves using 5 zones (six input parameters). This gives you complete freedom to set your own shapes.
Dead zones and brake force adjustment
SmartControl offers quick and easy adjustment of pedal death zones. The effect of these adjustments can be seen visually and in real time. Moreover, the required brake force to get 100% brake output in your simulator can be set in just a few mouse clicks.
Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint: Three Pedals Explained Closer
Every tenth of a second counts! That's why the Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint were designed with just one goal in mind: to give you ultimate control over your virtual race car. Whether you are a passionate sim racer looking for millisecond precision or a competitive driver dreaming of consistency, these pedals deliver impressive performance time after time.
All three pedals use a Load Cell and - fair is fair - feel great. We now briefly cover the three different types of pedals, going into a little more detail about their technical specifications and features. So for the real geeks 🙂
Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals - Accelerator
The Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals' accelerator pedal offers a smooth, precise and highly customisable experience, giving you excellent control over any race car. With five adjustable pedal travel modes, an adjustable pedal force curve, spring preload, pedal angle and pedal height, you can adjust the throttle pedal exactly to your liking. The graphs below show the effect of the force curve (left) and spring preload adjustments (right).
Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals - Brake pedal
The dual-stage braking system consists of an adjustable initial coil spring, which simulates the gap between the brake pads and the disc, and progressive rubber springs. Pedal firmness can be adjusted by choosing from 6 different rubber stack heights. The pedal angle and pedal height can also be adjusted.
A 120-kg load cell measures up to 65 kg (143 lbs) maximum actual braking force, making this brake pedal suitable for both sim racers who like to apply considerable force during braking and drivers who prefer lower operating forces. The graphs below show the effect of the force curve adjustment.
Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals - Clutch pedal
The clutch features a regressive spring mechanism to mimic a typical concave clutch curve. In addition, the clutch has three adjustable pedal force curves, adjustable spring preload, pedal angle and pedal height. The graphs below show the effect of the force curve (left) and spring preload adjustments (right).
The Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals allow you to fully customise your racing experience according to your preferences. Whether you are looking for precise control, adjustable power levels or a realistic clutch curve, these pedals will ensure you have the ultimate driving experience. Adjust your pedals exactly to your liking and enjoy endless racing fun on the virtual track!
Conclusion Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals
It's time to wrap up 🙂 In recent years, competition has increased dramatically with more and more manufacturers positioning themselves within this niche market. But despite the increasing competition, Heusinkveld maintains its well-deserved top position when it comes to superior quality, durability and and strong brand awareness. Heusinkveld is a leading name in the world of sim racing pedals, and it's not hard to see why. With their eye-catching design, high-quality materials and realistic racing experience, these pedals are - also in 2023 - a must-have for any serious racer.
So are there any drawbacks? Yes there are. The Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals are huge dust eaters! So an air canister with compressed air is not an unnecessary accessory 😉 In all honesty, I have not (yet) been able to find any further disadvantages. Unfortunately, the Sprint Pedals have risen sharply in price in recent years, making them - especially the three-piece set - relatively expensive. But, in all honesty, I don't think you really need a clutch pedal either. I haven't missed it at any point in my setup and you're better off investing the extra cost for this pedal in the Pedal Slider Baseplate From Sim Lab.
Pros
- Superior build quality and design
- SmartControl software
- Modular assembly
- Extensive customisation possibilities
Cons
- The 3-piece set is quite expensive
- The pedals are dust collectors
- Pedal Slider Baseplate is needed anyway
Fair is fair, the Heusinkveld Sprint Pedals are fantastic pedals. Whether you're a professional driver looking for an edge on the track or an avid gamer looking for a true-to-life simulation, the Heusinkveld Sprint pedals certainly won't let you down!
