It has been a little quieter around the popular game for a while now Assetto Corsa Competizione, but the silence has finally been broken with the announcement of a new DLC Pack and Crossplay support. The Nürburgring Nordschleife expansion was already announced recently, and to everyone's surprise, ACC is also coming out with a new expansion on the Assetto Corsa Competizione Car list. The Assetto Corsa Competizione GT2 DLC Pack appears on 24 January 2024! In this article, we tell you what to expect from this new DLC from Kunos Simulations.
Assetto Corsa Competizione GT2 DLC Pack
A short video was recently shown on Assetto Corsa's social media, giving a glimpse of, among other things, the Porsche 935, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS CS EVO KIT, Audi R8 LMS GT2, Mercedes AMG GT2, KTM X-BOW GT2 and the Maserati MC20 GT2 in the game that will be available in January 2024. These new ACC GT2 DLC Pack is something fans are eagerly awaiting, as it finally adds new elements to Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Porsche 935 Tribute
The new Porsche 935 is a powerful car based on the chassis of the 911 GT2 RS. With a twin-turbo 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine, it produces an impressive 700 hp. Only 77 examples of the modern 935 were produced, making it one of the most exclusive Porsches ever!
Made with a carbon fibre body for improved aerodynamics, fitted with an adjustable rear wing and equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Porsche 935 promises fast and precise manoeuvres on the track. The interior has been simplified and focuses on functionality and track performance. The Mercedes-AMG GT2 is a high-performance race car developed by Mercedes-AMG for their Customer Racing programme. It is specifically built in accordance with the GT2 technical regulations of the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and is particularly aimed at ambitious amateur drivers. Both the power and top speed of the new race car are above GT3 levels. It is the most powerful homologated race car in the history of the programme, with a maximum power output of up to 520 kW (707 hp).
The car is powered by an AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine optimised for motorsport use. It is equipped with a six-speed sequential racing gearbox with modified gear ratios. The transmission is mounted on the rear axle in a transaxle configuration and drives the rear wheels via a torsion tube made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFC).
Moreover, the Mercedes-AMG GT2 uses a carbon fibre monocoque and several other lightweight materials to keep the weight down. It has a large front lip, a rear spoiler and diffuser, fully adjustable suspension and large, carbon-ceramic brakes.
New track: Red Bull Ring
On the day before its release, Kunos Simulation comes with yet another surprise: the Red Bull Ring also appears in Assetto Corsa Competizione with the GT2 DLC Pack. With this, one of the most popular race tracks finally comes to the popular sim!
The Red Bull Ring is a racing circuit located in Spielberg, Austria. At around 4.3 kilometres long, the circuit offers a combination of fast straights and demanding corners. The design allows for high speeds and looks easy in terms of layout, but appearances can be deceptive. The Red Bull Ring is a very challenging and fun track. The circuit is characterised by its mountainous surroundings and offers plenty of run-out zones.
Crossplay Coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione
The new update also introduces crossplay for all multiplayer modes in Assetto Corsa Competizione, both on PlayStation 5 as on Xbox Series. This allows players on both platforms to find more opponents in public and private online events.
Thanks to this new feature, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series gamers can now race together, leading to a larger and more diverse online community. In addition, the update offers the ability to sync friends lists and create cross-platform leaderboards, adding an extra dimension to online competition.
